NEW: Dansk bistand og sikkerhed [in Danish]
En ny DIIS-rapport analyserer hvordan udviklingspolitikken siden 1992 har ændret sig i forhold til temaer omkring sikkerhed og væbnede konflikter. På seminaret vil forfatterne bag rapporten fremlægge resultaterne, og repræsentanter for Udenrigsministeriet, NGO-Forum og Dansk Røde Kors vil kommentere og perspektivere rapporten som oplæg til diskussionen.

NEW: Volunteerism and Development
The event will revolve round the theme “Volunteerism and Development”, and will be focused on exploring and highlighting the role of volunteerism and its contrubution for development. It will also include discussion on the history of volunteerism; its successes and challenges. The event will facilitate discussion and participation of delegates through a variety of presentation formats including plenary sessions.

NEW: Africa Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow: Exploring the Multi-dimensional Discourses on “Development”
The African Students Association (AFSA) at the University of Alberta extends an invitation to students, scholars, professionals, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and community members interested in all aspects of African development to this maiden conference scheduled for February 10-11, 2012. The aim of the conference is to discuss the complexity of Africa’s development from a multi-disciplinary standpoint, against the backdrop that whatever idea of ‘development’ there is transcends solely the economic, political, cultural, social, and infrastructural, but certainly does include all these aspects and more.

International Development Conference (IDC): Integrating Research, Policy and Practice
IDC 2012 will provide an international forum for development scholars, researchers, policy makers and practitioners to explore the linkages between the three areas that constitute international development work – the integration of research, policy and practice in development. It is the eighth in a series of DevNet (International Development Studies Network of Aotearoa New Zealand) conferences.

Annual Evidence-Based Performance Monitoring and Evaluation Forum 2012
The forum will highlight the core focal areas of the Performance-based Monitoring & Evaluation strategy and provide details from drafting, implementation, management and how to put check and balances for desirable results. The forum is designed for both public and private sector participants and will seek to address a range of strategies and the best application processes required, which if managed properly can deliver sustainable solutions to the ongoing challenges.

The Power of Africa: Africa as a Stronger Actor on the International Stage
The Power of Africa is the third Africa related conference that is being hosted in the beginning of 2012. It will focus on the possibilities and barriers that the African countries are facing in terms of economic and political bargaining power as well as the prospect of speaking with one voice on the international stage. The conference will in particular address the expectations and opinions that the outside world holds of African development and how this often diverges with what might be more realistic and customized solutions on the ground. One aim of the conference is thus to debate whether alternative forms of institutional rule and economic models can be deemed more effective in Africa than the established forms of Western governance.

12th Delhi Sustainable Development Summit
The World Sustainable Development Forum (WSDF), established by TERI in 2005, identifies, analyzes and disseminates policy interventions to enhance human well-being and create conditions for a sustainable future. As part of its outreach activities, the forum conducts Regional Sustainable Development Summit (RSDS) and Delhi Sustainable Development Summit (DSDS) to spread key messages on issues of sustainable development in varied contexts.Under the WSDF-DSDS series, DSDS is being hosted annually since 2001.

International Conference on Emerging Economies - Prospects and Challenges
The conference will be interdisciplinary in nature and will explore some of the underlying opportunities and challenges in developing and emerging economies, identify key priority sectors, assess the role of social, technological, economic and environmental factors that govern society and businesses and develop a framework for strategic actions for the future.

United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development
The objectives of the Summit are: to secure renewed political commitment to sustainable development; to assess progress towards internationally agreed goals on sustainable development and to address new and emerging challenges. The Summit will also focus on two specific themes: a green economy in the context of poverty eradication and sustainable development, and an institutional framework for sustainable development.
