DDRN activities - Funding opportunities

Are you interested in promoting interaction between researchers and practitioners and North/South exchanges?
DDRN provides funding to help members organise and participate in activities contributing to achieve the objectives of the network, such as:

• Building thematic platforms, North-South partnerships and establishment of links at national, regional and international levels
• Strengthening links between researchers in Denmark and the South
• Disseminating and exchanging information (incl. research results) between development programmes and the research community
• Promoting cross-disciplinary production and exchange of research-based knowledge

There are four application calls annually with deadlines in March, June, September, and December.

Next deadline (call 3/2010):  September 1, 2010 – 12 noon

DDRN receives a large number of ineligible applications and applications not using the application forms. Thus, we kindly request that potential applicants carefully read the information below regarding the eligibilty requirements and application procedure before applying for funding.

Who can apply?
All members of DDRN who have an updated profile at the DDRN member database can apply for funding. To become a member and update your profile, please follow this link.

Members can apply individually, as a DDRN institutional member or in partnership with other institutions/individuals. In all cases, a main applicant will assume the accountability of the activity before the DDRN secretariat and board.

What can be funded?
Only activities within the thematic areas covered by DDRN can be supported. DDRN provides funding for two types of activities:
Workshops, seminars and conferences
Other activities

Activities addressing the following topics are currently prioritised by DDRN:
• Climate change in a multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional perspective
• Food security in a multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional perspective
• Research communication issues

Furthermore, innovative ideas are encouraged and prioritised.

Please note that activities must be carried out before May 31, 2011.

What cannot be funded?
The following types of activities CANNOT be funded:
• Academic courses, capacity-building courses, training workshops, courses aiming at improving practical skills
• Research projects, i.e. implementation of research
• Development projects
• Workshops, seminars and conferences held in other countries than Denmark in the North
• Book/journal publication
• Activities held in the South without active Danish partnership or key involvement
